As a kid growing up in Wisconsin I was lucky enough to have a grandpa that took me hunting as soon as I was able to follow him. As a kid growing up in Wisconsin I was lucky enough to have a grandpa that took me hunting as soon as I was able to follow him. We went after “partridge“ which is what my grandpa called ruffed grouse, and we also hunted pheasants. We sometimes took along my uncle’s springer spaniels which we usually ended up having to find at the end of the day. We never had much success killing birds, but the experiences of those hunts started my passion for bird hunting.
When I turned 18 I joined the Marines and had to sit-out a few hunting seasons. One day I was reading a magazine and came across an article on pudelpointers. I had never heard of the “versatile” dogs and I was amazed at what they could do. I was determined to own one. I bought my first pudelpointer in 2001. I named him Argo because he reminded me of the 8 wheel drive atvs that go through anything. I trained him myself and we hunted together all through my college years, he welcomed my three children, and moved with me 5 times. We lost Argo in 2013 and I again sat out a hunting season. It just wasn’t as enjoyable without a dog. In 2014 my wife and I decided to move our family back into the country and we purchased a 25 acre farm. By getting out of the city I was finally able to realize my dream of raising top-notch hunting dogs. I started Ghost Creek Kennel in 2018 and hope to offer one or two outstanding litters of gundogs per year. Thanks for taking the time to check out my story and please feel free to call anytime.
